BiofeedbackBiofeedback is the use of computerized instrumentation to record or mirror the psychophysiological processes in the body that we are not normally aware of. Today, with the benefit of computerized and digital technology, we can simultaneously look at numerous physical processes, for example, muscle tension, peripheral skin temperature, electrical skin conductance, and brain waves. The underlying philosophy of biofeedback is to basically return responsibility for one's wellness back to the individual. This is done through increasing a patient's awareness of stress and improving the ability to voluntarily control psychophysiology through use of visualization and imagery.
